Catamount Volleyball Continues Preseason Preparations

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – After opening its preseason schedule on Monday, the Western Carolina volleyball team continued an offensive-minded approach in its opening week of practices as it prepares for the 2021 season.

"Our big focus has been on installing the offense and working on our tempo and location," explained WCU head coach Karen Glover. "We've been working with our hitters on their ability to terminate a wide range of shots. I think next week, we will still have an offensive focus while mixing in some defensive concepts. Our defensive focus will be improving our blocking."

The team held positional skill sessions prior to a full team practice in the Ramsey Center main arena on Friday afternoon.

After three days of preseason practices, the Catamounts had their first off day on Thursday. The team took part in photo day activities in the morning before going whitewater rafting as a team bonding exercise during the afternoon.

WCU hosts Presbyterian College next Friday at 4 p.m. in an exhibition match held in the Ramsey Center auxiliary gym. The free event will be open to the public with additional details to be announced in the coming days.
