MACON, Ga. – Western Carolina women's soccer battled back from being down early, getting on the board late in the first half, before falling 2-1 to Mercer Sunday at Betts Stadium.

TURNING POINT:
  • Mercer scored two goals in the first 30 minutes of the first half and held off a scrappy Catamount team who surged offensive in the latter half of the contest.
 Individual Leaders:
Inside the Box Score
  • Mercer struck first with the first of the Bears' Moorman's goals in the match at 21:45.
  • Moorman struck again 10 minutes later at 31:01 giving the Bears a 2-0 lead.
  • Terry's goal at 35:35 answered Moorman's second goal and cut the Mercer lead to one. She took a pass from Burchfield, who fed her just to the right of the goal, and she sent it in.
  • Western Carolina's defense bowed up in the second half holding the Bears scoreless and just six shots after Mercer had 12 shots in the first 45 minutes.
  • On the flip side the Catamounts cranked up their offense in the second half with 10 shots but just couldn't find the back of the net for the game-tying score.
  • At the end of the match Mercer ended the contest with 18 shots to Western Carolina's 15.
 News & Notes:
  • Terry scored the first goal of her Catamount career.
  • Redshirt senior Reily Nelson was back in the starting lineup for the Catamounts after missing two matches due to injury.
