GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Redshirt junior
Pablo Hernandez (-3) fired a final-round 69 to tie for eighth and lead Western Carolina to a sixth-place finish as the Catamounts concluded the fall season Sunday at the 52nd Annual Furman Intercollegiate at the par-71, 7,005-yard Furman University Golf Club in Greenville, S.C.

A native of Madrid, Spain, Hernandez birdied No. 2 and No. 5 to turn at 2-under then added three additional birdies on the back nine to post the best finish of his collegiate career. He concluded the tournament six strokes back of co-champions Will Morlan (-9) of Furman and Daniel Cheng (-9) of James Madison.

Louis Theys (+4) jumped 13 spots to tie for 26th after recording a 1-under 70 with three birdies on Sunday, while graduate student
Adam Hooker (+5) fired a 69 with five birdies on the front nine and an eagle on the par-5 No. 15 to tie for 29th.Â

Ryan Thomas (+9) carded a 74 with birdies on No. 3 and No. 15 on Sunday, finishing in a tie for 51st, and senior
Magnus Pedersen (+11) tallied a final-round 75 with birdies on No. 2 and No. 15 to tie for 59th. Â

Josh Lendach (+7), who played as an individual, tallied a 78 with a birdie on No. 3 to tie for 51st, while sophomore
Kiefer Bulau (+28), who also played as an individual, shot a 77 with birdies on No. 5 and No. 7 to finish 83rd.

Western Carolina (+13) tied its second-best round of the season with a 282 on Sunday to finish sixth in the 15-team tournament. Chattanooga (-14) won the Furman Intercollegiate by 14 strokes, while Davidson (E) and James Madison (E) tied for second.

The Catamounts will open the spring season at the Border Olympics University Golf Tournament, Feb. 13-14, in Laredo, Texas.
