CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women's soccer scored a season-high four goals in the Catamounts 4-1 victory over VMI Sunday at the Catamount Athletic Complex.
 
Turning Point:
  • The Catamounts scored two goals in the first half and two in the second allowing VMI only three shots total in the contest.

  • The Catamounts took the early 1-0 lead when WCU was awarded a penalty kick. Katelyn Galbraith scored on the PK to give the Catamounts an early lead.
  • Lloyd put the Catamounts up 2-0 in the 24th minute when she took a rebound from Isabella DeMarco and put the ball into the right side of the net from about five yards out.
  • VMI cut the Catamount lead in half getting a goal just before the half.
  • Five minutes into the second half Isabella DeMarco scored the Catamounts third goal of the contest.
  • Burchfield put the exclamation on the match scoring in the 81st minute.
  • Western Carolina had 37 shots in the contest and only allowed VMI three.
 
News & Notes:
  • The Catamounts scored a season-high four goals in the victory over VMI.
  • Isabella DeMarco scored her first goal as a Catamount.
  • The 37 shots taken by the Catamounts against VMI is the third most in program history. The mark was two behind tying for second when WCU had 39 against The Citadel in 2007.
  • The Catamounts are 2-2-1 over the last five matches.
  • Lloyd's three goals this season ties for the most in her career for a season. She also scored three goals in her freshman campaign in 2020.
