Love Leads Catamounts in Win on Education Day

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Junior Mya Love led all scorers with 19 points as Western Carolina women's basketball defeated Queens 68-59 Thursday on Ingles Court in the Ramsey Center during the annual Education Day game. 
 
Turning Point:
With the score tied at 49 early in the fourth quarter, Love hit a field goal and was fouled, converting the old-fashioned three-point play. Her bucket and free throw were the catalysts for a 7-0 run for the Catamounts. The Catamounts would not trail for the remainder of the game holding the Royals to one field goal in the final 10 minutes.
 
 Individual Leaders
  • Love was 9-of-10 from the free throw line hitting 5-of-9 field goals for the game-leading 19 points.
  • Shayane Poirot-Allard had 14 points ripping down seven rebounds.
  • Jacey Justice just missed scoring in double figures with nine.
  • Adia Brisker led Queens with 16 points.
 
 Inside the Box Score
  • Western Carolina outscored Queens in three of four quarters.
  • WCU just edged the Royals in rebounds with 39 to their 35.
  • The Catamounts forced 16 Queens turnovers leading to 14 Catamount points.
