CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Graduate student Kyla Allison scored 13 points led three Catamounts in double figures as Western Carolina women's basketball dropped a hard-fought game, 71-58, to UAB Saturday on Ingles Court in the Ramsey Center. Â

Turning Point:
Trailing by one, 34-33 at the half, UAB outscored Western Carolina 34 to 24 in the second half including going 12-for-12 from the free throw line.

 Individual Leaders
- Allison paced the Catamounts with 13 points hitting a pair of three-pointers and ripping down six rebounds.
- Junior Mya Love and freshman Reagan Trumm each had 12 points.
- Joi Reid led the Catamounts with eight rebounds.
- UAB's Margaret Whitley led all scorers with 21.

- The Catamounts shot a scorching 50 percent in the second quarter which helped them to a 9-3 run in the final five minutes and take a 34-33 lead into the half.
- UAB blazed onto the court in the third quarter shooting 55.6 percent (5-of-9) including 8-for-8 from the free throw line.
- All told, UAB was 21-of-27 from the free throw line and 12-for-12 in the second half.
