Catamounts Defeat Campbell in Dramatic Fashion

Location: Ingles Court in the Ramsey Center – Cullowhee, N.C.   
 
CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Graduate student Kyla Allison scored a season-high 17 points and Mya Love iced the game with a pair of free throws as the Catamounts downed Campbell 49-46 Tuesday on Ingles Court in the Ramsey Center. 
 
Turning Point:
Love broke a 45-all tie by scoring the final four points of the game, including connecting on two free throws with 21 seconds remaining, for the Catamounts. WCU's defense held the Camels to one point in the final two-plus minutes of the game as Campbell was 1-of-6 from the free throw line, and 0-for-3 from the field, in that final stretch.
 
 Individual Leaders
  • Allison scored a season-high 17 points connecting on a season-high three three-pointers. 
  • Junior Audrey Meyers added a career-high 11 points adding five rebounds, a block, and a steal.
  • Ewa Kielar ripped down a career-high eight rebounds. 
  • Endia Holliday came off the bench to add eight points.
  • Audrey Fuller led Campbell with 15 points while Christabal Ezumah had five blocks.
 
 Inside the Box Score
  • It was Meyer's steal and basket that tied the game at 45 with 5:18 remaining in the game.
  • Western Carolina outscored Campbell 12-7 in the fourth quarter after each team scored 16 points in the third.
  • Western Carolina was 5-of-8 from the free throw line while the Camels struggled to hit just five in 17 trips.
  • Campbell shot a meager 21 percent from the field in the final 10 minutes and 36 percent for the game.
  • The score was tied four times and the lead changed five.
  • Campbell just edged the Catamounts in the rebound battle with 37 to the Catamounts' 34. Twenty-five of WCU's 34 boards were on the defensive end.
  • Campbell had a total of six blocks in the game.

  • Allison has scored in double figures in back-to-back games and three of her last five.
  • Western Carolina ended its three-game home stand 2-1.

  • Western Carolina's five wins, in the first 10 games, is the best start for a Catamount women's basketball team since the 2014-15 campaign when the rendition also opened the year 5-5.
  • The Catamounts are 4-1 at home this season.
  • With the win over Campbell the Catamounts snapped a six-game losing streak to the Camels.
