CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Kyla Allison's 18 points led three Catamounts in double figures as Western Carolina women's basketball defeated Montreat 69-51 Sunday on Ingles Court in the Ramsey Center.  
 
Turning Point:
Tied at 20 with 6:29 left in the second quarter, Western Carolina kicked it into another gear with an 11-3 run to close out the quarter and lead 26-20 at the half. WCU parlayed its six-point lead into double digits, never looking back, with a 21-10 scoring spurt in the third quarter.
 
 Individual Leaders
  • Allison paced all scorers with a season-best 18 points. She added five rebounds and two assists.
  • Shyane Poirot-Allard had 15 points and dished out three assists.
  • Mya Love closed out the double figure scoring for the Catamounts with 10 points. She just missed a double-double with a team-leading eight rebounds.
  • Virginia Edmondson and Mariya Williams led Montreat with 12 points each.
 
 Inside the Box Score
  • Western Carolina hit six three-pointers in the game.
  • The Catamounts shot 47.3 percent from the field. WCU shot 53.8 percent in the third quarter leading to a 21-10 advantage over Montreat.
  • Western Carolina ripped down 41 rebounds while Montreat had 26. The Cavaliers had just two offensive boards.

  • Junior Joi Reid got her fourth start of the season against Montreat and the first starting nod since Nov. 13 at LSU. 
  • Allison had a season-best 18 points and has scored in double figures in three of the last four games. In the last three games she is averaging 11.3 points per game.
  • With the home win against Montreat, Western Carolina is now 5-1 at home this season.
  • Western Carolina earned its sixth victory on the year with the win over Montreat. The Catamounts are one win shy of tying its win total of seven from the 2021-22 campaign.
  • As a team, Western Carolina dished out 11 assists against Montreat. The Catamounts have had double digit assists in back-to-back games and in seven games on the year.
  • Love got back in the double-digit scoring game with 10 points against Montreat, after failing to score against Clemson and five points against Campbell.
