CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Kyla Allison scored a career-high 25 points as Western Carolina women's basketball's flurried comeback attempt against North Carolina Central fell short 74-66 Monday on Ingles Court in the Ramsey Center.
 
Turning Point:
North Carolina Central built as much as a 23-point lead, with 1:12 left in the third quarter, and weathered a comeback attempt from Western Carolina, as the Catamounts outscored the Eagles 23-13 in the fourth quarter. NC Central iced the game by hitting 5-of-6 from the free throw line, with 28 seconds left, after Western Carolina cut the Eagles' lead to five, 69-64. 
 
 Individual Leaders
  • Allison led all scorers with 25 points hitting nine field goals, draining a pair of three-pointers, and going 5-of-6 from the free-throw line.
  • Sophomore Shayane Poirot-Allard poured in 14 points connecting on a pair of three-poiners.
  • Mya Love scored eight second-half points to end the game with 10 points.
  • Freshman Tamori Plantin led the Catamounts with six rebounds.
  • Kimeira Burks had 23 points for NC Central hitting five of the team's eight three-pointers in the game.
 
 Inside the Box Score
  • Western Carolina's slow start in the first three quarters of the game allowed NC Central to build an 18-point 61-43 lead.
  • The Catamounts found a spark in the fourth quarter holding the Eagles to three field goals and holding NC Central to 33.3 percent shooting. On the flip side, WCU shot a scorching 60 percent from the field (9-of-15).
