Holliday Posts Double-Double in Loss at Samford

 Location: Pete Hanna Center, Birmingham, Ala.  
 
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior Endia Holliday posted the first double-double of her Western Carolina career with 16 points and 11 rebounds as Catamount women's basketball fell on the road to Samford 64-51 Saturday at the Pete Hanna Center. 
 
Turning Point:
Western Carolina watched its slim first quarter and part of the second quarter lead slide away as Samford closed out the second quarter on a 15-0 run. The Bulldogs outscored WCU 22-6 in the second quarter. 
 
 Individual Leaders
  • Holliday led all scorers and had 11 rebounds for a double-double.
  • Zanoria Cruz just missed scoring in double figures with nine points.
  • Samford's Sussy Ngulefac led the Bulldogs with 15 points.
 
 Inside the Box Score
  • After scoring only nine points in the first quarter, Samford went on to score 42 points in the second and third quarters outscoring WCU 42-17.
  • The Catamounts did bounce back and win the fourth quarter outscoring Samford 18-13. 
  • Western Carolina had 25 turnovers in the game which turned into 24 Bulldog points. 
  • Each team shot 40 plus percent from the field with WCU at 46 percent and the Bulldogs at 49 percent. 
  • Samford had 29 rebounds while WCU had 24.
  • Western Carolina drained five three-pointers in the contest.
  • The Catamounts closed out the fourth quarter on a 7-0 run. 
  • WCU was 5-of-6 from the free-throw line.

  • For the second-straight game, Western Carolina held an opponent to single-digit scoring in the first quarter. 
  • Holliday has scored in double figures in back-to-back games. 
  • Bailey Trumm has hit at least one three-pointer in three of the last four games. 
  • Holliday got her first start since Jan. 22 at ETSU.
