ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Western Carolina women's tennis downed South Carolina State 5-2 Saturday at Hardeep Judge Tennis Center. 
 
TURNING POINT:
The Catamounts won two of three doubles matches to earn the doubles point and got victories at No. 1, No. 2, No. 5, and No. 6 singles to clinch the match. 
 
 INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Kata Foldeak and Miray Konar teamed up at No. 2 doubles for a 6-1 win while Jordyn King and Luzia Obermeier won at No. 3 doubles 6-2.
  • Foldeak dropped the first set, at No. 1 singles, 7-5 before bouncing back to win the second set 6-4 and clinching it with a 10-3 tie-breaker.
  • Obermeier blazed through the No. 2 single 6-2, 6-4. 
 
  NOTES:
  • Julia Pezzuco got her second win of the season in singles after missing all of the 2021 singles play due to injury. 
  • King and Obermeier lead the team in doubles wins with four. 
  • Foldeak now has four wins in singles play. 
  • The Catamounts are on a three-match winning streak and have won back-to-back road contests.

 Western Carolina continues its road swing on Feb. 13 with a match at Presbyterian which is set to begin at 1 p.m.
