Catamounts Fall to Chattanooga on Senior Day

 Location: Ingles Court in the Ramsey Center, Cullowhee, N.C.   
 
CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women's basketball's dropped its final Southern Conference home game of the season falling to Chattanooga 63-47. 
 
Before the game, Nadia Marshall, Andrea Martin Ruiz, and Grace Yocum were honored in Senior Day festivities. 
 
Turning Point:
Chattanooga held the Catamounts to three first-quarter points and outscored the Catamounts 34-17 in the first half. 
 
 Individual Leaders
  • Zanoria Cruz led the Catamounts with 14 points and went 5-for-5 from the free-throw line. 
  • Tembre Moates had 13 points and just missed a double-double with nine rebounds. 
  • Andrea Martin Ruiz had 10 points and seven rebounds.
  • Chattanooga's Destiny McClendon led all scorers with 17 points. 
 
 Inside the Box Score
  • The Catamounts closed out the game strong outscoring the Mocs 21-14 in the fourth quarter. WCU shot 46 percent from the field in the final 10 minutes of the game. 
  • For the game, Chattanooga shot 40 percent from the field. 
  • Western Carolina bested Chattanooga on the boards ripping down 39 to the Mocs 29. The Mocs only had three offensive rebounds. 
  • The Catamounts had 20 turnovers in the game and Chattanooga turned it into 21 points. 
  • Chattanooga got 33 points from its bench. 
  • Both teams were 10-of-12 from the free-throw line. 
  • Chattanooga drained 11 three-pointers in the game. WCU had three treys.

  • Cruz has led the Catamounts in scoring 11 times. 
  • With 13 points, Moates has scored in double figures three times this season. 
  • Moates now has 854 career points and ranks 25th in the WCU record books. 
  • Cruz has scored in double figures in back-to-back games.
  • Bailey Trumm has hit at least one three-pointer in the last three games and five of the last six.
