Catamounts Defeat Emory & Henry in Final Home Game of the Season

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women's basketball closed out the home portion of its schedule, for the 2021-22 season, with a 42-39 win over Emory & Henry Tuesday on Ingles Court in the Ramsey Center. 
 
Turning Point:
Western Carolina and Emory & Henry were tied at 39 with 2:31 remaining. The Catamounts took the lead on a pair of free throws by Endia Holliday, with 2:10 left, and Andrea Martin Ruiz hit 1-of-2 in WCU's 3-0 run to close out the game. 
 
 Individual Leaders
  • Holliday led the Catamounts with 11 points and added seven rebounds. 
  • Joi Reid had seven points, five rebounds, and three blocks.
  • Emory & Henry's Brylee Jones led all scorers with 15 points. 
 
 Inside the Box Score
  • Emory & Henry led for 25 minutes in the game.
  • Western Carolina outrebounded the Wasps pulling down 40 boards to Emory & Henry's 37. 
  • Western Carolina hit one three-pointer to Emory & Henry's four. 
  • For the game, the Catamounts shot 32 percent from the field but in the fourth WCU was able to pull ahead of Emory & Henry shooting 50 percent. 
  • The Catamounts had a season-high eight blocks in the game.
