Catamounts Fall on the Road at Samford

Birmingham, Ala. – Western Carolina women's tennis fell on the road at Samford Friday 6-1 at the Samford Tennis Center. 
 
TURNING POINT:
Samford swept all six singles matches. 
 
 INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Western Carolina took the early 1-0 lead with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Kata Foldeak and Angela Perez won 7-6 at No. 2 doubles and Jordyn King and Luzia Obermeier earned a 6-4 victory at No. 3 doubles.
  • The Catamounts took three different sets to three sets. 
  • Obermeier won the first set at No. 2 singles, 6-4, before falling 3-6, 4-6.
  • At No. 3 singles King bounced back from dropping the first set 1-6 by winning the second set 7-6. She lost in the third set 4-6.
  • The Catamounts' third three-set match came at No. 4 singles. Jacy Smith, like King, fell in the first set 1-6, won the second set 6-3, and dropped the third set 5-7.
 
 NOTES:
  • Foldeak, King, and Obermeier each have double-digit wins in doubles play. Foldeak leads the team with 11 while King and Obermeier have 10.
