CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina track & field will send four student-athletes to the Lee University Last Chance event on Saturday as they look to improve their respective season-best times or marks in hopes of securing a spot at the NCAA East Preliminaries on May 25-28 in Bloomington, Ind.
In track events,
David Miles will compete in both the men's 400-meter dash at 1:35 p.m. as well as the men's 200-meter dash.
Michael Harris competes in the men's 400-meter dash at 1:35 p.m. Both
Javon Brown and
Javell Brown are entered in the men's long jump at Noon, as well as the men's triple jump at 5:30 p.m.
Live results for the meet will be available via a link on CatamountSports.com. Admission to the meet, held at the Ray Conn Sports Complex in Cleveland, Tenn., is $10 per person with children 12 and under admitted free of charge.
Entering the weekend,
Javon Brown holds the 45
th-best mark in the men's triple jump at 15.36 meters with
Javell Brown in 79
th with a leap of 14.86 meters. Harris, the SoCon 400-meter dash champion, has a season and personal-best time of 47.62. Miles has a season-best time of 21.25 in the 200-meter dash and 48.73 in the 400-meter dash.
Selections for the NCAA East Preliminaries will be announced on May 19. The NCAA East Preliminaries are scheduled for May 25-28 in Bloomington, Ind.
