CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina lost its season finale to Chattanooga 13-1, in five innings on Senior Day as Caitlin Griffin, Bailey Huneycutt, Addie Pate, Lindsay Perillo, and Myra Twitty were honored before the game. 
 
The Catamounts will be the No. 6 seed in the upcoming 2022 Southern Conference Championships and will have a rematch with Chattanooga, who is the No. 3 seed, at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Greensboro, N.C. on the UNCG campus.

Turning Point 
Chattanooga scored in all five innings and hit five home runs. 
 
How it Happened
  • Chattanooga scored five runs in the first inning, two in the second, one in the third, four in the fourth, and one in the fifth. 
  • Bailey Treadway hit the second home run of her career in the second inning-ending Chattanooga pitcher Brooke Parrott's chance at a no-hitter.
 
 Inside the Box Score 
  • Treadway's home run was the Catamounts' only base runner in the game.
  • Griffin got the start, her first of the season, and takes the loss. She is 0-1 on the season.
  • Freshman Makenzie Martin tossed five innings, as she came in the game in the first inning with no outs. She gave up nine runs on 13 hits and struck out two. 
 
News & Notes 
  • As a team, the Catamounts have 48 home runs on the season which ranks third in the WCU record books for long balls in a season. That mark ranks second in the SoCon.
  • Bailey Huneycutt's career-season high 48 RBI on the season leads the Southern Conference. Her 14 home runs rank second.
  • Brooklynn Brewington's 32 stolen bases pace the SoCon and she has eight more than the second-place Kelly Warren of ETSU. 
  • This will be the fourth time Western Carolina will face Chattanooga in the opening round of the SoCon Championships.
