Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina baseball has an updated 15 combined players on rosters across the country in the various summer collegiate leagues.
WCU has players competing in seven different leagues ranging from the prestigious Cape Cod league in the northeast to the Valley League, Carolina-Virginia Collegiate, Southern Collegiate, Premier Collegiate, and Old North State Leagues in the southeast.
Sophomore infielder
Pascanel Ferreras returned to the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox of the Cape Cod League in Massachusetts after a first-team All-Southern Conference season in 2022. The Stone Mountain, Ga., native captured WCU's Triple Crown, pacing the team in batting average (.362), RBI (60), and home runs (15). He is slated to be joined on the Y-D roster by NC State transfer RHP
Coby Ingle, who sat out this past spring. The CCBL schedule opens in mid-June.
A combined six Catamounts dot rosters in the Valley Baseball League, which is centralized in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Three Catamounts are slated to play for the Covington (Va.) Lumberjacks with outfielder

Zach Ketterman returns to the Strausburg (Va.) Express where he played last summer, while right-handed pitchers
Gavin Mortenson and
J.D. Price are both on the Waynesboro (Va.) Generals roster.
After playing in the Valley League last summer, sophomore RHP
Nick Hyde ventured to the midwestern US-based Northwoods League to pitch for the St. Cloud (Minn.) Rox. Hyde joins a list of recent Catamounts to pitch for the Rox that includes former catcher Adam Martin (2012-13), and infielders Bradley Strong (2013-14), Brett Pope (2016), and
Cameron Blaquiere (2017).

Dylan Wheeler returned to the Fuqua-Varina Twins of the Carolina-Virginia Collegiate League with freshman RHP
Matt Schepel pitching and freshman infielder
Brandon Butterworth playing for the Mooresville Spinners of the Southern Collegiate League. Sophomore RHP
Dawson Elder is on the roster of the Lenoir Legends of the Old North State League, while freshman LHP Hazen Lancaster, who redshirted this season, playing for the Tarboro River Bandits and catcher
Brendan Burke with the Wake Forest Fungo, both of the Premier Collegiate League.
