Catamounts Tangle With Trojans in Front of Boisterous Crowd Saturday

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – In front of a large and energetic crowd, the Western Carolina volleyball team put forth a spirited effort against Anderson University on Ingles Court at the Ramsey Center on Saturday evening.

In its lone exhibition of the season, all 18 players on the WCU roster saw action in the predetermined four set match with five freshmen playing for the first time at the collegiate level.

"I was really pleased with tonight's performance," said head coach Karen Glover. "We were able to try out a bunch of different lineups and gain experience. We had a great crowd tonight and appreciate their support."

The Catamounts open the 2022 campaign next weekend at the Wake Forest Invitational. WCU battles Kennesaw State on Friday at 4:30 p.m. before facing the host Demon Decons on Saturday at Noon and closing out the tournament against NC Central at 4:30. Live stats will be available for all three matches with the Wake Forest contest streamed on ACC Network Extra (paid subscription required).

WCU head coach Karen Glover is scheduled to take part in a special 2022 Fall Sports Preview Facebook LIVE event, presented by Stanberry Insurance, on Monday (Aug. 22) beginning at 6 p.m. The head coaches of each of WCU's sports that hold championship seasons in the fall – cross country, football, soccer, and volleyball – will be on hand for this preview show.
