Catamounts Fall on the Road at Radford

RADFORD, Va. – Western Carolina women's soccer dropped its road contest at Radford 2-0 Saturday at Cupp Stadium. 
 
TURNING POINT:
  • Radford found the back of the goal just five minutes into the match. The Highlanders added a second goal at the 37th-minute mark to seal the contest. 
 Individual Leaders:
  • Radford's Alexis Kirnos scored both goals for the Highlanders. 
  • Kirsten Hahn and Ava Robitaille each had two shots in the match.
  • Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Eden Reece came in for the final 45 minutes of the match and recorded a clean sheet, not giving up a goal, and recording three saves. 
 Inside the Box Score
  • Freshman goalie Leanne Trudel started the match by playing the first 45 minutes. She allowed two goals and picked up one save.
  • Redshirt freshman Eden Reece replaced Trudel in goal in the second half. 
  • Kirnos scored Radford's first goal at 5:17 and her second of the match at 37:56.
  • Both teams had 11 shots in the match. The Catamounts had five shots in the first half and six in the second. 
 
News & Notes:
  • Western Carolina's loss at Radford was its first road loss of the season. 
  • The Catamounts gave up the second most goals on the season with the Highlanders' pair of goals in the contest. 
  • Reece saw her first action as a Catamount, playing the final 45 minutes of the match, after missing 2021 with an injury.
