Catamounts Fall on the Road to Ohio

ATHENS, OHIO – Western Carolina women's soccer dropped its final nonconference road match of the season falling to Ohio 3-0 Friday at Chessa Field.
 
TURNING POINT:
  • Ohio scored a goal in the first half and two in the second keeping the Catamounts out of the net with a solid defensive effort.
 
Individual Leaders:
  • Freshman goalkeeper Leanne Trudel had a career-high seven saves in the match besting her mark of five which occurred against Clemson earlier in the season.
  • Three different Bobcats scored with Abby Townsend logging a goal and an assist for Ohio.
  • Kirsten Hahn came off the bench to lead the Catamounts in shots with four, one of the shots on goal.
 
Inside the Box Score
  • The Bobcats got the early break and score, early in the first half, from a free kick off a Catamount yellow card leading to the Ohio score. Western Carolina played strong defense but couldn't find an offensive answer.
  • Ohio struck again for its second goal of the match at the 57th minute sending the scoring shot into the top right of the goal.
  • Western Carolina had six shots in the first half, two of those in quick succession by sophomore Naya Marcil in the 31st minute.
  • The Catamounts ended the contest with12 shots and five on goal.  
 
News & Notes:
  • The Catamounts have been shutout in two-straight contests and is suffering through their first losing stretch of the season.
  • Western Carolina has not scored a goal since the Catamounts scored three in the 3-1 win over UNCA on Sept. 1. All told, WCU has not scored a goal in the last 316 minutes.
