CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Graduate student Kyla Allison had a very happy birthday as her 22 points helped lead Western Carolina women's basketball to a 53-49 win over Wofford Thursday on Ingles Court in the Ramsey Center.  
 
Turning Point:
Tied at 41 at the end of the third quarter, Western Carolina outscored Wofford 12-8 in the fourth quarter to secure the win. The Catamounts held the Terriers to 23 percent shooting from the field in the final 10 minutes and 0-for-5 from behind the three-point line. 
 
 Individual Leaders
  • Allison scored a game-leading 22 points going 4-for-5 from the three-point line. 
  • Junior Joi Reid ripped down 10 rebounds and added two points. 
  • Audrey Meyers and Ewa Kielar each had seven rebounds in the contest.
  • Lilly Hatton led Wofford with 13 points. 
 
 Inside the Box Score
  • The score was tied 10 times in the game and the lead changed five times.
  • Western Carolina took the lead for good when Allison hit a field goal at the 9:39 mark of the fourth quarter. 
  • Allison's field goal at 5:01 left in the game gave WCU its largest lead of the game, 49-43.
  • Wofford cut the Catamount lead to two, 52-49, with four seconds left but Allison iced the game by draining a pair of free throws. 
  • The Catamounts ripped down 46 rebounds to the Terriers' 33. WCU held Wofford to only four offensive boards.
  • Wofford was 3-for-20 from three. 
  • Western Carolina scored 28 of its 42 points in the paint. 
  • The Catamounts overcame 18 turnovers.
