Men’s Basketball Travels to Samford for Saturday Matchup

The Western Carolina men's basketball team takes to the road this weekend as the Catamounts visit Southern Conference-leading Samford for a 6 p.m. Eastern / 5 p.m. Central tip-off inside the Pete Hanna Center.
 
Saturday's game will be streamed on ESPN+ (paid subscription required) with free live stats available via a link on CatamountSports.com.
 
WCU is 11-9 overall and 4-3 in the SoCon after a thrilling 76-71 home victory over Wofford on Wednesday at Ingles Court in the Ramsey Center. Vonterius Woolbright tallied his third-straight 20-point performance, leading WCU with 20 points. Tre Jackson scored 15 on five made 3-pointers – four in the second half – while Tyzhaun Claude adding 16 points and seven rebounds. Russell Jones Jr. sank the go-ahead 3-pointer with 17.6 seconds remaining and helped ice the win with two of WCU's four successful free throws inside the final 10 seconds. The win halted a two-game seasonal slide and marked a third-straight home victory for the Catamounts.
 
Samford is 13-7 overall and 7-0 in league games after a 69-59 road win at ETSU on Wednesday. Logan Dye led three Bulldogs in double figures with 19 points. Jermaine Marshall posted a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds while Jaden Campbell added 11 points off the bench. Dye leads the Bulldogs with 14.1 points per game – 12th in the SoCon – and is averaging 20.0 points in league games. Ques Glover (13.8 ppg) and Marshall (11.8 ppg) are also averaging double figures offensively with Marshall ranking as the team's top rebounder with 6.8 rebounds per game, sixth in the league.
 
One of two SoCon teams currently receiving votes in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25, Samford had four preseason All-SoCon selections and was picked second in the league's preseason coaches' poll.
 
The Bulldogs and Catamounts have met 28 times with the all-time series locked at 14. Samford has won three straight games over WCU after sweeping the season series in 2021-22.
 
The Catamounts return home to Ingles Court at the Ramsey Center on Wednesday, hosting The Citadel at 7 p.m.
