Catamounts Fall on the Road at ETSU

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Western Carolina women's basketball fell on the road at ETSU 70-39 Thursday in Brooks Gym.  
 
Turning Point:
ETSU opened the game on a 14-0 run and held Western Carolina to 18 points (eight in the third and 10th in the fourth) in the second half.
 
 Individual Leaders
  • Junior Mya Love led Western Carolina with 11 points.
  • Reagan Trumm scored 10 points for the Catamounts hitting a pair of three-pointers.
  • Junior Joi Reid ripped down a team-leading seven rebounds.
  • ETSU's Jiselle Thomas scored a game-leading 21 points.
 
  Inside the Box Score
  • After yielding 14 consecutive points to ETSU to open the game, Western Carolina battled back midway through the opening frame. WCU went on a 7-0 run to cut the Bucs' lead to five, 15-10 before Nevaeh Brown drained a three-pointer to push ETSU's lead back to eight at the end of the quarter.
  • For the game, ETSU shot 43.8 percent from the field and held Western Carolina to 29.5 percent.
  • ETSU ripped down 44 rebounds while WCU had 30.
  • ETSU connected on seven three-pointers and held the Catamounts to three.
  • ETSU struggled from the free throw line hitting 7-of-14. 
  • The Catamounts shot 71.4 percent from the charity stripe (10-of-14).

  • Kyla Allison had her consecutive games scoring in double figures snapped at nine straight with seven points against ETSU.
  • Love has scored in double figures in the last three games.
  • Reid had her consecutive double-figure rebound streak halted at three with seven boards against the Bucs.
  • Western Carolina's 39 points in the game are the second-lowest scoring output this season. The Catamounts scored 34 points at LSU on Nov. 13.
  • Western Carolina's three-game losing streak is the longest of the season.
