Tennis Continues Strong Fall in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Western Carolina women's tennis continued its fall season with another strong showing in singles competition during the UNCG Invite from Greensboro, N.C.

The Catamounts have competed already this weekend against players from East Carolina, Hampton, Appalachian State, & N.C. A&T throughout singles and doubles play.

The tournament started with singles action that saw WCU pick up four, straight-set wins over East Carolina and claimed five of the seven singles matches. The wins in straight sets included sophomores Jade Groen, Chloe Schwarz, Madison Schwarz and junior Andrea Redondo. Sophomore Isabella Sambola added a three-set win over the Pirates for the Catamounts.

In doubles action on Saturday, the Schwarz sisters along with the pair of Redondo and Dasha Osadova each won convincing doubles matches by the score of 6-2 and 6-1 respectively over Appalachian State.

The Schwarz pair along with Sambola and Leilany Ipunesso each earned doubles wins later in the afternoon over players from ECU.

The strong showing in doubles carried over for WCU as the Schwarz's along with Groen and Perez and the pair of Redondo and Osadova also earned a doubles win on Saturday against SoCon foe UNCG to conclude the action for the Catamounts.
