Catamounts Drop Hard-Fought Battle at Wofford

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Western Carolina women's basketball dropped a hard-fought battle at Wofford 83-62 Saturday at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium. 
 
Turning Point:
Wofford hit 10 three-pointers at key moments to keep the Catamounts from mounting a comeback. Twice Western Carolina cut the Terrier lead to three with the last one, 51-48, in the third quarter, but a three-pointer pushed the lead back to six. The Catamounts would never draw closer again. 
 
 Individual Leaders
  • Graduate student Kyla Allison led the Catamounts with 15 points and dished out seven assists. 
  • Mya Love came off the bench to score 13 points 
  • Endia Holliday added 10 points and ripped down six rebounds.
  • Rachael Rose led Wofford with 19 points. 
 
 Inside the Box Score
  • Wofford put the game away for good in the fourth quarter outscoring the Catamounts 25-13 in the final 10 minutes. 
  • The Terriers on fire from the field, shooting 55 percent for the game and shot 60-plus percent from the field in the final three quarters. 
  • The Catamounts ended the game by shooting 44 percent. 
  • Wofford was 7-of-8 from the free throw line while the Catamounts were 7-of-14. 
  • Western Carolina edged Wofford in rebounds with 25 to the Terriers' 22.
  • The Catamounts turned the ball over 14 times in the game equating to 21 Terrier points. 
 
News & Notes
  • Love has now scored in double figures in the last seven games.
  • Holliday scored in double figures in back-to-back games for the first time in her Catamount career. 
  • Allison has scored in double figures in back-to-back games and three of the last five. She leads the team and has scored in double figures 18 times this season. 
  • With the loss, Western Carolina has dropped four-straight games, the longest losing streak of the season.
  • With the win, Wofford splits the seasonal series with the Catamounts. 
  • Western Carolina has scored 50 or more points in the last three games and 60 or more twice in the four-game span.
  • Allison dished out a season-high seven assists in the game just missing tying her career-high of eight.
