CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women's tennis picked up a 4-1 win over Georgia State Saturday at the Catamount Athletic Complex. The Catamounts went 2-0 at home this weekend.
TURNING POINT:
After sweeping the doubles point and earning default wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, the Catamounts got a win at No. 4 singles to clinch the match.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Catamounts breezed and took the early 1-0 lead sweeping the doubles point against Georgia State.
- Western Carolina took an early 3-0 lead after the Panthers forfeited No. 5 and No. 6 singles due to injury.
- Georgia State earned its first point of the match winning at No. 2 singles.
- Freshman Jade Groen clinched the match when she won at No. 4 singles 6-4, 6-4.
- Groen and her No. 3 doubles partner Andrea Redondo completed the sweep in doubles planning to win a hard-fought battle 7-5.
NOTES:
- Groen improves to 5-1 in singles play.
- The Catamounts are now 3-0 at home to start the season.
