Catamounts Fall at Home to Chattanooga

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women's basketball dropped its home contest against Chattanooga 62-44 Thursday on Ingles Court in the Ramsey Center. 
 
Turning Point:
Chattanooga outscored Western Carolina 21-8 in the first quarter and scored 25 points off 25 Catamount turnovers.
 
 Individual Leaders
  • Tamori Plantin and Zanoria Cruz each came off the bench to lead the Catamounts with nine points.
  • Endia Holliday ripped down a team-leading six rebounds.
  • Chattanooga's Yazz Wazeenrud-Din scored a game-leading 23 points. 
 
 Inside the Box Score
  • Chattanooga held Western Carolina to single-digit scoring in the first (8) and fourth quarters (7).
  • Western Carolina attempted a comeback, after being down 13 (21-8) after the first quarter to outscore the Mocs 17-13 in the second quarter. The Catamounts shot 66.7 percent in the second quarter. 
  • The Catamounts shot 42.1 percent from the field holding Chattanooga to 38.6 percent. 
  • Chattanooga drained six three-pointers in the game and held the Catamounts to two. 
  • Western Carolina was 10-of-15 from the free throw line while the Mocs were 12-of-16.
  • The Catamounts just edged Chattanooga in rebounds pulling down 31 to the Mocs' 27. 
  • Western Carolina had five blocks in the contest two from Plantin.  
 
News & Notes
  • Kyla Allison had her double-figure scoring streak snapped at three.
  • For the first time this season, Western Carolina failed to have a player score in double figures. 
  • With the loss to Chattanooga, the Catamounts have lost six consecutive games. 
  • Plantin hit a career-high five free throws in the game.

  • Western Carolina plays its final regular season game of the season hosting ETSU at 7 p.m. Saturday in the second game of a doubleheader with men's basketball. It is senior day and Kyla Allison, Endia Holliday, and Joi Reid will be honored before the game.
