Holliday Notches Double-Double in Double OT Loss to ETSU

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women's basketball left it all on the court on Senior Day taking ETSU to double overtime before falling to the Buccaneers 90-84 Saturday on Ingles Court in the Ramsey Center.
 
Before the game Kyla Allison, Endia Holliday and Joi Reid were honored on Senior Day.
 
The Catamounts will be the No. 8 seed in the upcoming 2023 Ingles Southern Conference Basketball Championship presented by General Shale. Western Carolina will face No. 1 seed Wofford at 11 a.m. Thursday at Harrah's Cherokee Center in Asheville.
 
Turning Point:
With the game tied at 80 after the first overtime, ETSU outscored the Catamounts 10-4 in the final five minutes to clinch the win.
 
 Individual Leaders
  • Senior Holliday went out in style playing her final game at home tying her career high in points (21) and ripping down a career-high 14 rebounds for a double-double. She was also 7-of-8 from the free throw line.
  • Fellow senior Allison scored a game-leading 23 points adding four assists.
  • Mya Love added 16 points and was 3-for-3 from the three-point line.
  • Junior Audrey Meyers tied her season-high with 11 points and dished out three assists.
  • ETSU's Nevaeh Brown led the Buccaneers with 21 points.
 
 Inside the Box Score
  • Allison forced overtime when her desperation three-point shot, with 1.1 seconds remaining, swooshed into the net to knot the game at 72.
  • The Catamounts outscored the Bucs 26-16 in the fourth quarter overcoming a 13 point, 61-48, deficit with 7:34 remaining in the game.
  • In the final 3:26 in regulation, Western Carolina went on a 16-3 run to force overtime.
  • The Buccaneers returned the favor with a game-tying three-pointer at the end of the first overtime to force the second overtime.
  • Western Carolina shot 43.8 percent from the field while ETSU shot 46.7.
  • The Catamounts just edged the Bucs in rebounds ripping down 39 to ETSU's 34.
  • Each team connected on seven three-pointers in the contest.
  • Western Carolina turned the ball over 12 times as the Bucs turned that into 13 points.
  • ETSU was 27-of-40 from the free throw line while the Catamounts were 21-of-30.
 
News & Notes
  • The Catamounts scored a season-high 84 points.
  • Western Carolina played its first double overtime game of the season. It was the fourth overtime in the series against ETSU and first double overtime with the Bucs.
  • Allison scored 20-plus points for the fifth time this season.
  • Holliday scored 20-plus points for the first time this season.
  • Western Carolina had two 20-plus scorers in a game for the first time in the season.
  • Holliday notched her third double-double on the year and the fifth in her Catamount career.
  • Allison has scored 370 points this season the second-most since the 2019-20 season. The 370 points is also good for 24th in the Catamount record books for the most points scored in a season.
