Catamounts Earn 4-3 Win over Gardner-Webb

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women's tennis improved to 4-0 at home with a 4-3 win against Gardner-Webb Sunday at the Catamount Athletic Complex.
 
TURNING POINT:
With Gardner-Webb leading 1-0 after taking two of the three doubles matches, Western Carolina won four of the six singles matches to clinch the contest.
 
 INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • The duo of Jade Groen and Andrea Redondo earned a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles to avoid a Runnin' Bulldog sweep after Gardner-Webb took wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
  • The Catamounts won in straight sets at No. 1, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 singles to clinch the match.
  • Catamount freshman Dasha Osadova battled at No. 6 singles coming back from being down 6-2 in the first set to win the second set 6-2. Cayline Le Grange took the third set 6-3 for the win but it was too little too late for the Runnin' Bulldogs as WCU had already sealed the match.
  NOTES:
  • Groen earned her seventh win in singles play.
  • Western Carolina has won four of its last five matches.
  • Groen and Andrea Redondo leads the team with five doubles wins on the year.
