As a reminder, WCU Athletics continues to adhere to a clear bag policy for all home men's and women's basketball games in the Ramsey Center. Diaper bags (
child must be present upon entry) and any medical-related bags will be allowed.
WCU is 12-12 overall and 5-6 in Southern Conference games following an 85-77 home loss to Samford on Wednesday.
Tyzhaun Claude led the Catamounts with a career-best 24 points, going 8-for-15 from the field and 8-for-11 at the free throw line. Saddled with foul trouble much of the first half,
Vonterius Woolbright tallied 16 points followed by
Russell Jones Jr. with 14 and
Tre Jackson with 10.
Chattanooga is 12-12 and 4-7 in league play after a 79-58 road loss to Furman on Wednesday. Jamaal Walker and Dalvin White led the Mocs with 15 points each followed by Jamal Johnson with 12. Walker and Sam Alexis both grabbed five rebounds. The Mocs, visiting Cullowhee in the third game of a three-game road swing, boast the third-best scoring offense in the SoCon at 77.1 points per game, but have dropped five of their last six in league play.
The Catamounts enter the weekend in a three-way tie for fourth place, tied with Wofford and ETSU – both of which the Catamounts defeated in the first meetings this season. Chattanooga is mired in a three-way tie for seventh-place, just a game back of the fourth-place deadlock.
The matchup between the Mocs and Catamounts will be the 101st all-time meeting with Chattanooga leading the series 70-30 following a 95-76 win in the Scenic City on Jan. 11 aided by a 35-point output from Jake Stephens, who has missed the last four games for UTC with an injury. WCU is 23-23 all-time against the Mocs in Cullowhee.
The Catamounts travel to a pair of Upstate South Carolina foes next week, beginning with a Wednesday visit to Wofford with a 7 p.m. tip-off. That contest will be streamed on ESPN+ with live audio coverage available on the Catamount Sports Network.
