COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Western Carolina track & field teams wrapped up the Weems Baskin Invitational on Saturday with one event win as
Javon Brown continued his strong weekend, taking home the victory in the men's triple jump competition.
Brown took the victory with a leap of 15.20 meters (49'10.5") for his second win in as many days. On Friday, Brown won the invite division of the men's long jump with a personal best leap of 7.32 meters (24'0.25").
Competing in the invite division of the men's 800-meter run,
John Davis finished in third place with a new personal best time of 1:53.21. His previous personal best was a time of 1:54.43 set at the Aggie Invitational last season. Also on the track, the men's 4x100-meter relay team of Skyler Woodard,
David Miles,
Michael Harris, and
Noah Straley finished ninth with a time of 41.58.
Derica Currie finished ninth in the women's triple jump with a leap of 11.36 meters (37'2.25").
In the women's 100-meter hurdles,
Imani Boyd finished 11th win a new personal best time of 14.40.
Nytrinitey Jenkins placed 12th in the women's 200-meter dash and 13
th in the women's 100-meter dash invite division.
The Catamounts are off next weekend and return to action on April 7-8 at the Duke Invitational.
