CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women's tennis earned its third straight victory on Saturday as the Catamounts defeated Presbyterian College 5-2 at the Catamount Athletic Complex.
WCU improves to 8-4 on the season while Presbyterian drops to 2-11.
The Catamounts took the doubles point with wins on the No. 2 and No. 3 court.
Chloe Schwarz and
Angela Perez picked up a 6-3 victory over Presbyterian's Madison Dennett and Valentina De Sousa as WCU won the No. 3 court in a walkover. The Blue Hose won the No. 1 doubles match in a tiebreaker.
Jade Groen earned a 6-3, 6-0 victory against Varvara Nikolaeva at No. 3 singles. Perez recorded her second win of the day as she topped De Sousa 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
Andrea Redondo was a 6-2, 6-1 victor at No. 5 singles while
Chloe Schwarz took No. 6 singles in a walkover. Presbyterian took both of its points at No. 1 and No. 2 singles.
The Catamounts begin a four-match, four-day Spring Break tournament in Orlando, Fla., on Tuesday, facing East Carolina at Noon.
