ORLANDO, Fla. – The Western Carolina women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 nonconference match to East Carolina on Tuesday as the Catamounts opened their Spring Break tournament in Orlando, Fla., at Sanlando Park.
East Carolina evens its record at 6-6 while WCU drops to 8-5. The loss snaps a three-match winning streak for the Catamounts.
The Pirates clinched the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 courts.

Andrea Redondo held a 4-3 lead at No. 3 doubles when play was halted as the point was decided.
ECU claimed the match with wins at No. 2, No. 4, and No. 6 singles. At No. 1 singles, Isabela Sambola took the first set and was in a second set tiebreaker in a match that was unfinished.
The Catamounts play their second straight match against a team with a Pirates moniker, facing Seton Hall on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the USTA National Complex.
