Catamount Women's Tennis Downs Seahawks on Thursday
 
ORLANDO, Fla. – Western Carolina women's tennis picked up its 10th victory of the season on Thursday, defeating UNCW 4-1 at the USTA National Complex.
 
WCU improves to 10-5 while UNCW drops to 6-4.
 
The Catamounts earned a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles to start the match and after UNCW won the top court, Isabella Sambola and Chloe Schwarz earned a 7-6 (7-4) win at No. 2 doubles to claim the point.
 
WCU picked up wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles with Angela Perez and Andrea Redondo, respectively, winning before Sambola downed Zoe Huffman 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 singles to clinch the match.
 
The Catamounts close out the tournament as well as the non-conference portion of their 2022-23 schedule on Friday morning against Loyola (Md.) at 7:30 a.m.
