SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Western Carolina infielder
Brooklynn Brewington was named the Southern Conference Player of the Week as the league announced its weekly awards on Monday afternoon.
Brewington earns the award for the second time this season, the first coming on March 13. She is the third Catamount player to earn a weekly honor this season, joining
Bailey Huneycutt who was tabbed as the Player of the Week on April 3, and
Tessa Juett who was tabbed the Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 13.
Selections are made by the conference office from nominations submitted by the sports information or media relations personnel at each league institution.
In four games last week, the Andrews S.C., native batted .538 with seven hits, five runs scored, two RBI, and five stolen bases. Brewington opened the week against Appalachian State on Tuesday with a 3-for-4 performance, collecting a pair of singles and a double, with two runs scored and an RBI, with a pair of stolen bases in the victory over App State.
