BOONE, N.C. – The Western Carolina track & field teams recorded three personal bests along with four top-five and eight top-10 finishes on Saturday at the Appalachian State Open.
In the women's pole vault,
Sydney Gallant cleared an outdoor personal best height of 3.46 meters (11'4.25") to finish in third place.
Jennifer Wagner took seventh, clearing the bar set at 3.31 meters (10'10.25") to equal her personal best.
Toria Roundtree finished ninth in the women's shotput with a top throw of 10.40 meters (34'1.5").
Returning to action,
Kaleb Ambrose finished in third place in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.30.
Competing in the men's shot put,
Riley Center finished in third place with a mark of 14.70 meters (48'2.75").
Jacob Thomas finished in seventh thanks to a throw that measured 13.56 meters (44'6"). Thomas also finished ninth in the men's discus with a top throw of 38.14 meters (125'1").
Jonathan Lehe posted a new personal best in the men's pole vault as he cleared a height of 4.56 meters (14'11.5") to finish in fourth place.
The Catamounts host the 2023 Southern Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 8-9 at the Catamount Athletic Complex. Day two of the conference-champion crowning meet will be broadcast on ESPN+ (
