CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina sophomore Angela Perez was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, it was announced on Tuesday.
 
CSC Academic All-District Team selections were required to have posted a 3.50 or better GPA, completed at least two semesters at their current school, played in at least half their team's competitions and be considered a starter or key contributor. Freshmen and student-athletes who have transferred in the last year were not eligible. The 2023 season is the first year that men's and women's tennis has had a stand-alone Academic All-District Team with previous women's tennis winners being part of an at-large all-academic team.
 
Perez is a sophomore Sport Management major from Tarragona, Spain with a 3.62 GPA. This season, she posted a 13-4 singles record and a 9-12 doubles mark. Perez won five straight singles matches in the fifth flight from March 9 through April 4, and was 7-1 overall at No. 5 singles. In doubles play, Perez teamed up with Madison Schwarz for four doubles wins on the No. 1 court.
