Women’s Basketball Receives WBCA Academic Honors

ATLANTA, GA. – Following a successful school year in the classroom, the Western Carolina women's basketball team received a special mention from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) as the association released its Academic Top 25 for the 2022-23 school year on Tuesday.

"This is a byproduct of a united effort from our academic staff, coaching staff and most importantly our players," commented Head Coach Kiley Hill. "National recognition such as this highlights the standards that we have set for our program, and I couldn't be more proud of our entire program."

WCU was led in the classroom by Endia Holliday and Bailey Trumm who both posted 4.0 GPAs in the 2022-23 academic year. Holliday and Trumm were joined by Ewa Kielar and Reagan Trumm by earning the SoCon Commissioner Medals for a GPA greater than 3.8. A combined eight Catamount women's basketball players landed on the 2022-23 SoCon Academic Honor Roll.

Holliday, Audrey Meyers and Joi Reid were named to the 2023 Academic All-District Teams as announced by College Sports Communicators.

The Catamounts were the lone school in the Southern Conference to receive recognition from the WBCA on Tuesday.

"The WBCA is pleased to recognize those women's basketball programs that have committed themselves to excellence on the court and in the classroom," said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew. "The teams we honor this year strive to achieve all-around success and we commend their efforts. Congratulations!"
