Jordy Lowery Collects Pair of Postseason All-America Honors

Sophomore corner earned recognition from the AP and FCS Football Central by SI

Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina sophomore defensive back Jordy Lowery has earned a pair of postseason All-America honors since the end of the 2024 season, collecting second-team defense All-America plaudits from the Associated Press (AP) and was a third-team honoree on the FCS Football Central All-America team. The postseason accolades are the first of his career after earning his way into the starting lineup in his second full season on the field.

Lowery finished sixth on the Catamount squad with 48 total tackles on the season including 31 solo stops and 2.5 for loss. The redshirt sophomore from Bartow, Fla., was credited with tackles in all 12 games of the season including nine stops at nationally-ranked Montana, and a career-high 10 against mountain rival ETSU.

Lowery, who was snubbed in the Southern Conference's postseason awards, finished the year third in the league with a WCU-best six interceptions and added eight passes defended to tie for third. The 5-11, 190-lbs., corner recorded his first career pick in the home-opener against Campbell and tallied a career-high two interceptions in the road win at Samford.

Taking advantage of opportunities on both defense and special teams, Lowery scored two touchdowns for the Catamounts. He scooped a Ken Moore Jr. blocked field goal at No. 22 Elon and scampered 55 yards for a score that helped seal the road victory over the Phoenix. Then in the regular-season finale at Samford, Lowery returned one of his two interceptions 92 yards for a touchdown, registering the second-longest interception return in program history. The 92-yard pick-six was tied for the fifth-longest return in the NCAA FCS this season.

With six picks over 12 games this season, Lowery tied for second nationally with an 0.5 interception per game average.

Lowery has appeared in 24 games over the past three seasons in Cullowhee including a redshirt season back in 2022. Clawing his way onto the two-deep and starter at corner, he posted 48 of his 51 career tackles in a productive 2024.
