CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Western Carolina women's tennis saw its eight-match win streak snapped on Saturday afternoon as the squad continued its four-match road swing, dropping a 4-0 decision to the Charlotte 49ers at the LifeTime Fitness Center.
The loss was the first for the Catamounts since a season-opening setback on January 21 against Clemson.
Charlotte came out quickly on Saturday with a 6-1 and 6-2 result at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to secure the opening point of the match. The 49ers are the first opponent to defeat WCU in doubles play since the aforementioned match loss to the Tigers earlier this season.
The 49ers continued to keep the pressure on the Catamounts with three, straight-set decisions at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 5 to secure the victory.
The Catamounts have a quick turnaround as WCU is set to battle Boston University on Sunday in Charlotte with first serve time set for Noon.
