Cullowhee, N.C. – Cold, steady rain showers throughout the day on Friday and unfavorable weather forecasts into the evening hours have prompted officials within Western Carolina Athletics to cancel the Catamount baseball series opener against Georgia State. The game had been pegged for a 4 p.m. first pitch at Childress Field / Hennon Stadium.
Patrons who had purchased advanced tickets for Friday afternoon's game can use those tickets for any of the three remaining series games this weekend – or exchange for admission use at any future Catamount baseball home game this season.
WCU and Georgia State were slated to play four games this weekend beginning with a 4 p.m. first pitch on Friday before the cancelation. Now a traditional three-game series weekend, the teams will open play with the scheduled Saturday doubleheader beginning at Noon with game two to follow approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. The set concludes on Sunday with a 1 p.m. first pitch.
Each game is slated to be
