Cullowhee, N.C. -- While the majority of the Catamounts are competing at the Duke Invitational, a handful are competing a bit closer to home at the Brevard-hosted Tornado Classic.
The one-day meet will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the women's 10K on the track while the women's hammer and men's javelin throw get the field events started at the same time. Joshuah Glyn-Williams will be the first Catamount to see action as the sophomore competes in the men's long jump at 12:00 p.m. Sydney Gallant will be the first Catamount to compete in the women's events as she takes on the 100m.
Catamounts to Watch
There won't be many Purple and Gold-clad Catamounts in action during the Tornado Classic, but that will make it easy to keep an eye on the ones competing. Joshua Glyn-Williams will lead WCU as he is the only one set to compete in two events. He'll earn his first marks of the outdoor season in the long and triple jumps. The only other athlete competing in the men's events is Grant Parham, who is set to compete in only his second career 1500m run. His first time was set during the Montreat Open to open the 2024 Outdoor Season.
The Catamounts will have four athletes competing on the women's side as Sydney Gallant, Clara Root, Jasmine Smith, and Bella Hilleary all look to build momentum in Brevard. Gallant and Hilleary will earn their first marks in a non-pole vault event as the Catamount duo competes in the 100m and the triple jump. Meanwhile, Clara Root and Jasmine Smith will compete in the 800m as both athletes push for strong finishes before the Catamount Classic next weekend.
