Miller, Steinarsdôttir Lead WCU to Sixth at Terrier Intercollegiate

Catamounts conclude the 2025 fall semester at the Edisto Island Invitational

Spartanburg, S.C. – Western Carolina senior Sadler Miller climbed eight spots in Tuesday's final round with a team tournament-low round of 1-over par 73, closing the 54-hole Terrier Intercollegiate in a tie for 14th overall to guide the Catamounts to a season-best sixth-place finish as play concluded at the par-72, 6,037-yard Country Club of Spartanburg.
 
Opening on the par-5 fifth, Miller carded her first of four final-round birdies to open the day at 1-under par. Bogeys on No. 6 and No. 9 left her moving to the back nine at 2-over par with 13 holes to play. The Clayton, N.C., product then birdies three of her next seven holes to move to 2-under par with six holes left. Miller bogeyed three of her six remaining holes to finish at 1-over par, 73, and a three-round total of 228.
 
Combined, Miller finished the tournament with a team-best nine birdies over the two-day event in the Upstate.
 
WCU sophomore transfer Elsa Maren Steinarsdôttir likewise improved her final standing on Tuesday, advancing four spots into 18th overall, her best showing as a Catamount after matching her lowest 18-hole score with the Purple & Gold. Steinarsdôttir posted a final-round score of 3-over par 75, countering four bogeys and one double-bogey with a trio of birdies to finish two strokes in arrears of Miller. The Akranes, Iceland, native finished with six birdies over the two-day event with a score of 230.
 
Rounding out WCU's scoring five were graduate transfer EC Niebauer in a tie for 26th at 234, followed by sophomores Annalee Caveney (235) in a tie for 30th and Emily Rosenschein (250) in 56th, firing her best round as a Catamount with Tuesday's 7-over par 79. Niebauer finished with three birdies, while Caveney carded four, including two over the final 18 holes, with Rosenschein tallying two.
 
Southern Conference foes East Tennessee State and event-host Wofford claimed the top two spots on the podium as the Buccaneers edged the Terriers by six strokes,  891-to-897, after matching one another with identical scores of 298 over the final 18 holes. Mountain foes UNC Asheville and Appalachian State finished tied for third with matching scores of 899, with Elon (908) rounding out the top five, just ahead of WCU.
 
Appalachian State's Zoe Duval carded a final round score of 2-under par 70 to advance into a tie for the individual medalist honors, tying ETSU's Sophia Gambini with three-round scores of 217. Bella Kent of Wofford finished third, two strokes back at 219.
 
Western Carolina women's golf concludes its fall semester schedule Oct. 27-28 at the Edisto Island Invitational, hosted by the defending CAA women's golf champion College of Charleston on Edisto Island, S.C. It marks WCU's first return to the same CofC-hosted event since 2023 with the Catamounts coming home ninth in the 16-team field.
