Cullowhee, N.C. – Based on unfavorable weather forecasts for the weekend, Western Carolina and Catamount baseball have amended the schedule for the three-game nonconference series against Eastern Illinois at Childress Field / Hennon Stadium.
The two teams will now play a doubleheader on Friday, beginning at 1 p.m., with game two expected at around 5 p.m. – or within 45 minutes of the conclusion of game one. The game date and time of the third game of the three-game set will be determined following Friday's action, dependent upon weather forecasts and EIU's travel schedule. Every effort will be made to play the third game either Saturday or Sunday afternoon (time TBD).
Each series game will feature online audio from the Catamount Sports Network with an airtime of 12:45 p.m. on Friday ahead of game one and approximately 15 minutes before game two. Fans can
listen to the broadcasts online at CatamountSports.com. Live stats for each game will also be available online through a
link at CatamountSports.com.
Weather forecasts for Saturday and Sunday call for rain and thunderstorms across western North Carolina through the day, prompting the alteration of the schedule. Officials at WCU will determine the best option of playing all three scheduled weekend games as Western Carolina and Eastern Illinois meet for the first time on the baseball diamond this weekend.
In addition to being able to purchase tickets at the Hennon Stadium box office on game day, tickets for Catamount baseball can be purchased in advance in person through the first-floor Athletics Ticket Office in the Ramsey Center, by phone at (828) 227-2401, or online at
CatamountSports.com/BuyTickets. Tickets for Friday's game will be good for both ends of the now scheduled doubleheader.
