Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina women's golf heads to the Caribbean this week for the three-day, 54-hole 2025 Puerto Rico Shootout, hosted by Ball State on the par-72, 6,026-yard Flamboyan Course at the Palmas Del Mar Golf Club in Humacao, Puerto Rico.
 
Teams will play three rounds over three days beginning on Tuesday, March 4 through Thursday, March 6 with a practice round on Monday, March 3. Live scoring through the Scoreboard app powered by Clippd is available online with links at CatamountSports.com.
 
It's the second year that Western Carolina has traveled to Puerto Rico for the tournament, and last season, the team placed fifth. Senior Elizabeth Lohbauer was well entrenched inside the individual top five for much of the three-round event a year ago, finishing fifth at 1-under par 215—just two strokes off the pace.
 
In addition to the Catamounts and host Cardinals, this year's 13-team field includes fellow Southern Conference foes UNCG and Wofford. Rounding out the competition field are Arkansas-Little Rock, Boston College, Central Arkansas, Florida Gulf Coast, James Madison, Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, Southern Miss, and Texas – Rio Grande Valley.
 
All seven Catamount golfers on the roster will be in action, including the WCU debut of sophomore transfer Abby Bradley as the No. 5 seed. Bradley was a mid-year addition to the Catamount lineup from Emory & Henry, posting a pair of podium finishes, including her first individual medalist honors in the fall.
 
Lohbauer, WCU's seasonal leader, leads the scoring five into action. The Venice, Fla., product has a team-best scoring average of 75.53 on the year, 20th in the SoCon. Freshman Madison Lehr is the second seed with a stroke average of 77.35, the 25th-best in the conference, and the fifth-ranked freshman.
 
Rounding out WCU's scoring five are freshman Ella Kozak at No. 3, followed by junior Sadler Miller and Bradley. Kozak finished in a career-best 18th-place tie in New Orleans in the fall. Senior Kaitlyn Wingnean and freshman Annalee Caveney are slated to compete unattached, vying for the individual medalist honors. Like Bradley, the Canadian-born Wingnean will see her first action of the spring semester.
 
This week's tournament is the second of five competitions for the Catamounts this spring, culminating with the conference champions in mid-April.
