Cullowhee, N.C. – Due to unseasonably cold forecasted temperatures in Boone on Tuesday (April 8), Western Carolina baseball's midweek road game at archrival Appalachian State has been moved to Wednesday, April 9 at 5 p.m. at Beaver Field at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium
Wednesday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+ (
paid subscription required). Fans who have purchased tickets to Tuesday's contest can use those tickets for admission to Wednesday's rescheduled game.
Western Carolina (16-15) won the front of the two-game nonconference home-and-home 14-10 last Tuesday (April 1) in Cullowhee. The Catamounts powered their way to a 13-5 lead over the Mountaineers before holding on for the four-run victory, WCU's second-straight after enduring a six-game series slide. In Tuesday's win, eight of WCU's 12 base hits went for extra bases, including five doubles and three home runs. The Catamounts lead the all-time series with the Apps, 84-53-1 – but have dropped four-straight series meetings in Boone dating back to 2013.
Following Wednesday's fourth consecutive game out of league play between two opponents – App State and Gardner-Webb – WCU returns to Southern Conference play on the weekend with a three-game series in Johnson City, Tenn., against East Tennessee State April 11-13.
