Catamounts Finish at Dani Palooza Last Chance Meet

Cullowhee, N.C. – The trio of Western Carolina track and field student-athletes wrapped up their appearance at the Dani Palooza Last Chance meet on Sunday afternoon. Jackson Livingston hit a season best in the javelin throw, Ethan Long took a first-place finish in the 200m sprint, and J McFerrin clocked his fourth sub-14s finish in the 110m hurdles.

Livingston finished fifth overall in his event, passing the 60m mark in the javelin for only the second time this season and the first since the Davidson Relays. The Prosperity, S.C. native saved his best throw of the season for his last attempt of the day, launching a 61.15m toss down range. The throw was his best of the season by 1.02m.

Long was the sole sprinter in the 200m to post a sub-21s finish in Sunday's event, earning the win with a 20.97s sprint into a headwind. The standout Catamount freshman sprinter has four sub-21-second finishes this season.

Additionally, McFerrin finished fourth in the 110m hurdles with a 14.07s finish, his fourth sub-14.1s finish of the year. The senior hurdler's top time on the season was a 13.98s sprint at the VertKlasse Meeting, but would not count towards WCU record books due to a 2.2 mph tailwind assisting his time. However, both his 14.04s finish at the SoCon Championships and his 14.07s finish today would both be the WCU hurdles record.

Western Carolina awaits to see if any of its track student-athletes will earn berths in the NCAA East First Round meet at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla., hosted by the University of North Florida.
