Volleyball Earns AVCA Team Academic Award

Lexington, Ky. – Western Carolina volleyball received the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) 2024-25 Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT, the organization announced on Monday afternoon. This marks the 11th straight season and the 15th time overall that the Catamounts have been honored by the coaches organization, joining a record-setting 1,450 schools to receive recognition this year.

Initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, the AVCA Team Academic Award honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.

The Catamount volleyball team compiled a 3.66 GPA for the 2024-25 academic year.

Bailey Hartsough, Ollie Henderson, and Halley Tang are among the individual academic highlights for the Catamounts from 2024-25, each maintaining a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA this past academic year. Hartsough and Henderson were joined by Katie Boney, Sarah Janourova, Eda Yalcinkaya, and Zoe Zudans on the league's fall All-Academic team. Morris, Henderson, Zudans, and Boney each received College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors in 2024.

In addition to WCU, other SoCon members who earned the AVCA Team Academic Award in 2024-25 include The Citadel, Wofford, Furman, and Chattanooga.
