Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina men's golf looks to keep the fall momentum going after consecutive top five finishes to start the season, traveling north to Farmington, Pa., for the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational, hosted by the University of West Virginia at the par-72, 7,526-yard Mystic Rock Golf Course at Nemacolin Resort.
The Catamount scoring five will vie for the team and individual medalist honors, while their individual competitors will compete in a separate event, the Shepherd's Rock Individual, hosted at the par-72, 7,515-yard Shepherd's Rock Golf Course at Nemacolin Resort. The courses are approximately 65 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, Pa., and just 36 miles northeast of West Virigina's campus in Morgantown, W.Va.
Both events get underway on Monday morning with 36 continuous holes of play, with the team event using a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m., while the individual competition opens at 9 a.m.

In addition to the Catamounts and the defending event champion and host Mountaineers, the 19-team field includes Bucknell, Campbell, Davidson, Delaware, Eastern Kentucky, George Mason, George Washington, James Madison, Mount St. Mary's, Penn State, Richmond, Robert Morris, Saint Francis, Seton Hall, Towson, Virginia Commonwealth, and the College of William & Mary.
A total of 30 individuals will compete at the Shepherd's Rock event.
Coming off medalist honors at the home JT Poston Invitational,
Tyler Jones leads the Catamount lineup entering the event. Jones, a transfer who spent the past two seasons with the Charlotte 49ers, enters the week leading the Southern Conference with a seasonal stroke average of 67.50 among those teams that have reported scores to date this fall.
Jones is flanked by senior
Ivan Ninkovic, who is tied for third in the SoCon with a scoring average of 70.00, in the No. 2 spot. Juniors
Jace Butcher (71.33) and
Andrew Korytoski (73.33) are seeded third and fourth, with redshirt senior
Josh Lendach (72.67) rounding out WCU's scoring five.
The Catamounts have three competing unattached in the Sheperd's Rock Individual, led by freshman
Connor Williams (72.67) and joined by junior
Dalton Payne, who is tied for 12th in the SoCon with a 71.67 scoring average, and classmate
Michael Bevins (74.67), who qualified to make the trip.
Following the three days in southwestern Pennsylvania, the Catamounts conclude the fall portion of their schedule at the Elon Invitational. The 54-hole tournament is scheduled for Oct. 13-14, at the Alamance Country Club in Burlington, N.C.
