Catamount Soccer Alumna Becca Campbell Signs with German Pro Team

Campbell (2023-24) signs with FFC Hof of the Bayernliga

Cullowhee, N.C. – Former Western Carolina women's soccer standout is back on the pitch as Becca Campbell (2023-24) was signed to the Bayernliga's FFC HoF. The team competes in the top tier of regional German women's soccer and the fourth tier overall, representing the town of Hof in Bavaria.

Campbell makes her German pro debut on Mar. 21, 2026, as FFC Hof takes on SV 67 Weinburg II.

"I am incredibly proud to be part of the Catamount family in Cullowhee. My time with WCU women's soccer gave me some of the highest moments of my career; experiences and memories that I will carry with me forever," said Campbell.

"Playing for a coach who truly believed in me and being part of a program that holds itself to a standard of excellence both on the field and within the community, provided me with the foundation to pursue and achieve my goal of playing professional soccer in Europe," said Campbell, who appeared in 83 games across the collegiate levels and six while playing in the Alberta semi-pro ranks.

A two-year starter with the Catamounts after beginning her collegiate career with the Cumberland (Tenn.) Phoenix of the NAIA, Campbell makes the jump overseas after most recently competing for the Edmonton Northwest United (2024) and the Northwest United 1 team (2025) of the Alberta Soccer Association - Alberta Major Soccer League (AMSL) in Canada.

"During the recruiting process, Becca shared that her goal and dream was to play professionally overseas after her college career. Becca had an outstanding career here as a starter and captain, winning three championships. She is tactically aware, composed under pressure, and plays with tremendous grit," said head coach Chad Miller, who coached Campbell through her 35 matches leading the Purple and Gold backline.

"However, in my opinion, Becca's greatest strength—and what truly sets her apart—is her leadership and her ability to bring people together. She is a complete team player with a huge heart and a genuine care for others. We are incredibly proud of Becca and grateful to have played a part in her journey. We look forward to watching her from afar as she represents the Cats."

Campbell seldom left the pitch in her collegiate career, as the Edmonton native recorded 70 full games in her 83 match appearances across the NCAA DI and NAIA levels, totaling 7,256 minutes of game action. She averaged 87.4 minutes of game action per contest, helping guide her teams to 43 shutouts throughout her career.

The 5-10 center back captained elite defenses throughout her five-year collegiate career, with her teams conceding only 67 goals in 83 matches (0.80 GA) while scoring 221 for a 154-goal differential. Her defenses conceded 788 total shots in her career as Campbell's backlines allowed only 9.49 shots per game.

With the Catamounts, Campbell was a critical piece of WCU's first-ever back-to-back Southern Conference championship squads, starting every match along the backline upon her arrival in Cullowhee in 2023. She shepherded the WCU defense to elite performances during her Purple & Gold career, as the team recorded 25 shutouts and only allowed 28 total goals through 41 matches.

Most notably, Campbell and the 2024 Catamounts rolled to nine straight shutout performances, setting a school record for consecutive clean sheets. The Catamounts went on to record 14 shutouts that season, setting a school and SoCon record for single-season shutouts.

In that same year, the Catamounts recorded only the second undefeated home regular season in program history, thanks in large part to Campbell's play in WCU's last-second 2-2 draw against Longwood. In conference play, Campbell's top-flight defense conceded only a single goal to SoCon opponents, topping the already impressive five allowed in the 2023 conference championship campaign.

Despite seeing action on the backline throughout her career, Campbell also flashed offensive skill, netting 14 goals and five assists for 33 total points. She posted five game-winning goals, including four for the Phoenix and one for the Catamounts in her final season of college competition.

"I will be forever grateful to Western Carolina University and the entire women's soccer staff for their guidance, support, and commitment to my development. The culture of the program prepared me for the demands of competing at a higher level, and I am proud to represent WCU as I take this next step in my soccer career," Campbell added.
